Volvo Trucks makes its mark on the sustainable journey at ReThink HK

The expo provides an unmatched presentation of solutions for the 6,000+ guests, including corporate executives, sustainability practitioners, researchers, and change makers, who are seeking to form partnerships and assemble resources for their sustainable future initiatives.

A cross-sector advisory board of sustainability experts supports ReThink HK and provides crucial insight into how ReThink may successfully meet the needs of the Hong Kong ecosystem. The platform was used by Volvo Trucks to showcase our Volvo FE Electric 6x2R for urban transportation. Numerous problems with city distribution are evident. There is a ton of traffic. streets that are narrow. There are several short pauses. The Volvo FE is the vehicle of choice for swift and secure product transportation. This vehicle's urban-use design and construction enable productivity, visibility, manoeuvrability, and safety. The Volvo management team actively engaged in the panel discussions and contributed their knowledge and ideas on the subject of "The EV Journey for Hong Kong: Moving People & Products" with other professionals.

According to Ms. Anna Engblom, Managing Director for Southeast Asia & Japan at Volvo Trucks, "We're dedicated to working with our clients to decarbonize the trucking business. We must respond to client demand, and much also depends on how much society as a whole will support us. It's crucial to realize that a transformation like this needs to be implemented market by market, segment by segment. This is our key ideology as we expand across the SEA & Japan regions, and we are positive this will aid us in growing within this industry. A significant step towards the EV Journey is the Hongkong Government's focus on investment programs to enhance sustainability. The commercial vehicle market in Hong Kong is expected to develop exponentially over the decade that follows, she continues. The REThink event takes place as our country moves toward a future that is more confident and boasts of a considerably stronger economy.

ReThink HK is the most comprehensive platform in Hong Kong for businesses to demonstrate how they can "build back better" by limiting climate change, increasing resilience, investing in technology, using resources responsibly, and reducing inequality. A diverse spectrum of specialists and professionals from many industries, as well as representatives from the freight and transportation sectors, attended the show.

The Volvo FE rigid electric trucks can be optimised for a wide range of specialised transport assignments, including goods distribution, refuse collection and construction work. These segments often operate in city areas with shorter driving distances per day, making them particularly suitable for electrification.

We encourage our customers to use the Environmental Footprint calculator when planning their future fleet. They get a holistic view of how different choices can change your environmental footprint, and you can easily compare your alternatives at hand. The calculator can give a clear indication of how our trucks minimise the environmental footprint in their transport chain. And our customers can win more contracts.
